The EGATE Intelligent Data Concentrator has been specifically designed for demanding I/O applications such as engine and com-ponent test beds that require a large number of data samples to efficiently be transmitted to a host system. Via four RS-485 ports and utilizing an optimized, high-speed LocalBus protocol, the EGATE retrieves measurement values from I/O Pak K-Series modules. The EGATE then arranges the data into a user-defined sequence which allows up to 60 variables, regardless of which I/O node they originated from, to be transmitted to the Profibus-DP Master in a single packet. This technique dramatically increases the ratio of data to protocol overhead allowing a total of over 100,000 samples per second of total throughput on a 12 Mbps network. Data may also be retrieved via the on-board 10/100baseT Ethernet port with integrated web server. Separate RS-485 and RS-232 interfaces are also provided allowing easy configuration and service and providing connectivity to serial sensors and modems (dial, radio, GSM, etc.). The e.gate operates on 10 to 30 VDC and can easily be DIN EN-rail mounted.
