Liquid Level Application
By: Larry Miller, Applications Engineer

A gas equipment company has a liquid-level transmitter and was searching for a digital indicator to display the level of fluid in a tank. The transmitter provides a current output of 4-20mA, which is proportional to the liquid volume in a horizontal cylindrical storage tank. If the transmitter is located in a hazardous location, an intrinsically safe barrier is used to establish the non-hazardous area.

A V560 Loop-Powered indicator is the choice for this installation. The V560 digital indicator derives its power entirely from the 4-20mA signal being measured. The V560 is highly flexible as the zero is adjustable anywhere from -/+ 1999 counts with any span of 100 counts and greater. The NEMA 4X enclosure ensures protection in outdoor installations from moisture, chemicals and other environmental conditions.
